Accessibility Evangelizing

I am currently spearheading one of the largest initiatives at the company to improve the accessibility of all digital experiences at Auto-Owners Insurance.

Previous roles at the company in UX brought me to my role within the User Experience team as a Web Accessibility Specialist. I have been able to bring my accessibility expertise to public and private facing sites and systems by performing manual audits with assistive technology, providing training on understanding WCAG 2.0 & 2.1 guidelines, and working with designers and developers to create accessibly designed systems.

Other aspects of my role include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding WAI-ARIA specifications

  • Auditing with assistive technologies

  • providing implementation direction and requirements to project members

  • assisting in document accessibility and remediation
