Mona Hardas, M.D. Website Redesign
Uncivilized Vitality(UV) contracted me for the rebranding of their business and various promotional materials. Their business is all about highlighting health and happiness through a balanced lifestyle directed by Dr. Jon D. Morey. When I began working with the owners of UV my main focus was on understanding what they wanted the lifestyle to advertise as well as what services they wanted to promote.
Who wants to get uncivilized?
The branding campaign was to be targeted toward individuals who wanted to reconnect with nature and become part of a community. With that in mind, I began researching color schemes derived from nature, activities that UV offered, and other natural elements I could pull from. My goal was to update the color scheme UV was already using with more saturated colors to bring life and energy to the brand to pull individuals in.
After updating the color palette I moved on to redesigning their logo. Again, the theme focuses heavily on nature and also on balance. I always like to iterate on logo designs but starting out with several different ideas gave my client the opportunity to choose a direction that he found most appealing. I pulled inspiration from his existing branding, modern logo design, camping, and nature. I’d be remiss if I didn’t share that Dr. Morey is a big fan of double meanings and subtle representations of his business. Mix all of that together and you get logos that show off the updated color scheme, and natural elements, and when flipped upside down a “u” and “v” represent Uncivilized Vitality. I shared those ideas with the UV team before heading in the direction they found most compelling. That ultimately led us to the new branded logo that Uncivilized Vitality reps today.

Collaborating with Dr. Morey and his team has allowed me to branch outside my traditional user experience design background and elevate my communication and creative thinking skills. Since establishing the main elements of the brand, I’ve worked with the UV team to create business cards, banners, brochures, and other promotional materials.
