Nexus Central

Nexus Central was a concept proposed by the UX team to consolidate several student resources into a single “hub” for Central Michigan University students. The project started out with a benchmark study of the course registration system, degree planning system, and other online student resources.

The Problem: students navigate through several systems at once to get a complete picture of their college career and action items

After identifying the problem and the pain points the existing systems caused students, we began mapping out the easiest way for students to inquire and complete tasks related to their course registration, degree planning, emergency contact information, etc. User interviews helped us define that students wanted a guided experience with tasks defined at the forefront for them to complete. We also explored many cool and out-of-the-box ideas like guided planning for incoming freshmen and transfers, clear objectives for students to check off, and a degree overview UI that suggested courses to register for in the coming semester.

Unfortunately, the project did not make it past the ideation phase of the design process but below are a few concept interfaces to illustrate the direction we were interested in exploring more.
